Recently, the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province has asked the Ministry of Transport to agree on investment policy to extend the runway at Phu Bai international airport.

Specifically, a runway has been completed (No. 1, size 2700mx45m), ensuring to receive A320 / A321 airplanes and equivalent, serving 1.5 million passengers / year. Particularly, the system of taxiways so far has only 1 main taxiway and 6 branch roads. It is worth mentioning, only 2/6 of the taxiways are still in use, the rest are damaged.

In 2019, Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) will continue to invest in Terminal T2, which is expected to be completed in 2021, ensuring 5 million passengers / year.

According to the planning of Phu Bai international airport to 2020 with orientation to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 1029 / QD-TTg, by 2020, the existing runway No. 1 will be extended to 3,048. mx 45 m; complete parallel taxiway 3,048 m long and 6 connecting taxiways; Guarantee to receive aircraft B767, B777. After 2020, extend the parallel taxiway to 3,800 m and build one more connecting taxiway.
