History of Can Tho International Airport
Established in February 1961, Tra Noc Airport is one of the international airports in Vietnam; built under the funding of the US Government. Not only is a civil airport, this is also a military airport of the Vietnam Air Force.
After the liberation year of 1975, the country was reunified, this airport was reassigned to the military for management. In the following years, this was an important base for the Vietnamese to attack the Khmer Rouge team in the southwestern border war. Therefore, Can Tho airport is not just an airport but also a building that witnesses many important historical events.
In 2001, Tra Noc airport was restored to become a civil airport to welcome domestic and foreign tourists to the southwest of Vietnam. After more than 4 years of construction, in 2009, this airport has officially become the leading airport in the Mekong Delta region. In 2011, Can Tho airport just became an international airport.
About the name, the official name of this airport is Tra Noc airport, however, many people call it Can Tho International airport.
How far from Can Tho International airport to the city center?
The address of Can Tho airport is 179B Le Hong Phong street, Binh Thuy District, Can Tho. From the airport, it only takes about 30-40 minutes by car to get to the center of Can Tho city. Tra Noc airport is only 22km northwest of the city center.
How far from Can Tho airport to Ninh Kieu wharf?
