Where is Thung Nham Bird Park?
Thung Nham Bird Park Tourist Area (also known as Thung Chim) is located in Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. It is located in the core of the famous Trang An scenic complex and very close to Tam Coc Bich Dong.
How to get to Thung Nham Bird Park from Hanoi?
The way to Thung Nham Ninh Binh is not too difficult because there are specific directions on Google maps as well as road signs.
If you go from Hanoi, you will run along National Highway 1A, when you reach Ninh Binh city, you will meet a junction with a big welcome gate. Here you turn right, go in the direction of Tam Coc tourist area.
After passing Tam Coc area, you go in the direction of Bich Dong Pagoda, to the intersection near the pagoda, turn left following the signpost. Then you just drive straight to Thung Nham tourist area.
At Thung Nham ticket gate, you can buy a ferry ticket from the first section to go to But cave. If not, you can take the car to take the Thung Nham tourist area.

What is good to see at Thung Nham Bird Park?

Hang But
Hang But is a 500m long natural rock cave belonging to Thung Nham bird garden tourist area. In the cave, there is a beautiful stone statue of a fairy sitting on the underground river. The cave is dark and has no electric lighting system, you will bring a flashlight to visit.
Vai Gioi Cave
Vai Gioi Cave is a cave located on high mountains, about 5000 m2 wide with 3 floors containing many stalactites divided into “Earth, Hell and Heaven”. There is a story that this is the place to set up the heavenly altar of the old people, pray for good rain and wind, and good crops. Most visitors to Thung Nham Bird Park visit the cave to wish for a peaceful and good trip.
To visit Vai Gioi Cave, after passing the ticket gate 500m, you turn right to head up to the cave. After passing the challenge of 439 stone steps, you will reach the entrance of the cave.
Bird garden
This is definitely the most important destination of the Thung Nham bird garden tourist area. Bird garden is the living space of many species of birds such as storks, cauldron, stingers, … especially two rare species in the red book are the cranes and phoenixes.

The best time to visit the bird garden is autumn, cold weather, around 5 pm when the birds come back for food. However, if you can not arrange the time, you can come at 5 am – 7 am or 4 pm – 6 pm to watch the birds fly, or 2 pm – 3 pm to return to Hanoi during the day.
