Best time to travel to Ban Gioc Waterfall

The climate in the Ban Gioc Cao Bang is divided into two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season.

The rainy season starts from June to September. It is also the time when the waterfall falls, and pouring white foam, which is suitable for the trip to Ban Gioc, especially in the period from August to September.

The dry season brings a completely different theme. At this point, Ban Gioc – Cao Bang is quite peaceful, the rice fields cooked gold at the foot of the waterfall create a romantic scene but is also very peaceful.

How to get to Ban Gioc Waterfall?

Ban Gioc Waterfall has located about 400 km from Hanoi so you will be able to move to Ban Gioc by motorbike or passenger car.

By motorbike

With a motorbike, you also have 2 options.

If you bring a motorbike from Hanoi you can enlist to Ban Gioc for 2 days on weekend, departing on a Friday night, (but if you have 3 days, it is much more comfortable) to follow the schedule from Ha Noi – Bac Kan – Cao Bang – Trung Khanh – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Cao Bang – That Khe – Lang Son – Hanoi.

If you do not want to run a motorbike from Hanoi, you can take a sleeper bus to Cao Bang City, get there, rent a motorbike in Cao Bang City, then go to Ban Gioc Waterfall, and return the motorbike before taking the bus back to Hanoi, this way will help you move more easily.

You can also choose to send motorbike to Cao Bang from Friday night (buy a ticket for your motorbike at the local bus station where you take the bus to Cao Bang), arrive Saturday morning to Cao Bang and go to Ban Gioc

By passenger car/ sleeper bus

From Hanoi, you take a sleeper bus to Cao Bang City, next from here you take the Thanh Luan bus with the schedule from Cao Bang – Nguom Ngao Cave – Ban Gioc Waterfall, this bus runs continuously from 6:30 to 15:30 with a frequency of 1 bus / 1 hour, the last trip from Ban Gioc is about 14h so you should pay attention.

If you do not want to change the bus in Cao Bang, you can take the Vinh Dung bus from Hanoi to the Chongqing market and from here take a motorbike taxi to go to Nguom Ngao and Ban Gioc.

Pac Bo Cave

Pac Bo cave, Cao Bang, VietnamIt is a cave located in a large mountain range, Pac Po cave that housed Uncle Ho’s (Ho Chi Minh) revolutionary activities.

In front of the cave there is a small stream, in the middle, sometimes in blue color, which was named  Lenin stream after Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, better known by the alias Lenin, was a Russian communist revolutionary, politician, and political theorist.

Nguom Ngao Cave

About 3km in Ban Gioc, lying in the heart of a mountain in Cao Bang, a total length of up to 2144m with 3 main entrances.

Thang Hen Lake

Thang Hen lake, Cao Bang, VietnamLocated in Quoc Toan Commune, Tra Linh district, Cao Bang province, at thousands of meters above sea level, Thang Hen Lake has a diamond shape, a width of 100m to 300m, and a length of 500m to 1,000m.

Upstream is a large cave, deep inside the cave is where the water flows out day and night.

It is especially interesting when the people here say that about every 10 years, suddenly the Thang Hen Lake nearly runs out and after only a few days the water will flow back to normal.

And another impression is that when in the flood season, Thang Hen Lake retains its characteristic jade color, while the other lakes in the region turn red.
