Cuc Phuong National Park – A destination of nature and wildlife

120km south of Hanoi capital, deep in the heart of Tam Diep mountain range, Cuc Phuong National Park is located in the territory of 3 provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa with an area of ​​22,408ha.

Established on July 7, 1962, under Decision 72-TTG of the Prime Minister, Cuc Phuong became the first National Park and also the first nature conservation unit in Vietnam.

With many advantages of the natural landscape, diversity of ecosystems, and historical and cultural values, Cuc Phuong has long become a famous and attractive eco-tourism destination.

Flora

Cuc Phuong is characterized by tropical rainforests, green all year round.

With a small area of less than 1,500 of the country’s area, 2,234 species of plants have been discovered; accounting for 17.27% of the total plant species of Vietnam. Stepping into the primitive old forest of Cuc Phuong, people feel stunned and small when entering the unspoiled, green, majestic, and enduring world.

Dozens of people hug the perimeter of the thousand-year-old giant trees, 45m to 75m high, living quietly before storms, sun and rain, but become giant. Fauna

Not inferior to the plant world, the fauna of Cuc Phuong is also very diverse and rich. According to the latest census data, Cuc Phuong has 135 species of mammals, 336 species of birds, 122 species of reptiles and amphibians, 66 species of fish, and nearly 2000 species of insects.

Among the mammal species in Cuc Phuong, many species have been classified as rare; such as leopards, fire leopards, horse bears, … and many endemic species such as red-bellied squirrels, primates such as red-faced monkeys, yellow monkeys, and gibbons.

In particular, in Cuc Phuong, there is a rare species of the animal spirit, which no longer exists anywhere else in the world but in Vietnam, which is the white-breed langur. Therefore, this langur has been chosen as the symbol of Cuc Phuong National Park.

Insect world

The insect world in Cuc Phuong is also diverse. Before the enemies, the small insects are weak, and only have a way to hide and hide.

Some species are created to allow invisibility; like leaf beetles, their bodies are like fresh leaves, and when they hide in the grass, it is difficult for any discerning eyes to know.

Day 1

  • 13h30: Arrive at Cuc Phuong National Park, and participate in forest skills training.
